Retail investors working as shock observers in the stock market: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday that retail investments are acting as a shock observer in this period of huge volatility in the stock market. Amidst the stampede of foreign investors from the Indian markets, the market is getting big support from retail investors.

In March, CDSL had reported that the number of active demat accounts opened with it in the country has crossed 6 crores. It is worth noting that in recent times, there has been a lot of volatility in the Indian stock market. Due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the world, rising inflation and the efforts of central banks around the world to crack down on inflation, the global market is witnessing huge turmoil. The Indian market is also not untouched by this upheaval.
