There is general consensus on Kangana Ranaut playing the role of Mrs. Indira Gandhi in her next – Emergency. The superstar is in top form as she slips into the role with ease, nailing her look in the first look of the film that came out yesterday.

For her look as the former Prime Minister of India, the team roped in Oscar-winning makeup artist David Malinowski for the job. Fully crediting him for his looks, Ranaut explains in an interview with a leading daily, “David Malinowski is the brains behind the transformation. We had several meetings to find out the final look. He did many look tests. In fact he said that I have a physical resemblance to Mrs. Gandhi, which includes the shape of the head, the texture of the skin as well as the jawline. I told her that people in India believe that I am the ideal person to play the role of Mrs. Gandhi.

Living up to her brilliance in portraying each and every character, the actress once again went all out with her look for the film. She tells us that it used to take 4 hours to do the look every day. Kangana He adds, “David believes that as we set the look in the days ahead, the time to perfect the look will decrease.” Needless to say, her preparation is reminiscent of how she soaked herself in the role of Jayalalithaa for Thalaivi. The actress has a penchant for playing parts of characters of historical importance, bringing the desired enthusiasm and energy to these roles.

For Emergency, the actress has the dual role of being an actor as well as a director. Perfecting the look is the first step in the long journey ahead. With special preparation and research for the tee, the actress says, “We took our time to decide on the makeup and prosthetics. Hair was important. He took full charge and took the call to go about it. David and his team are smart professionals. An entire team has come down from London. We are fortunate to have the best in the world do this for us. The response to the look is amazing. Everyone thinks it’s fantastic. Now the shooting has started and I am happy that what I always wanted to do – solo directional – is happening. This is my passion project and now I am excited to do it.”

In Kangana Ranaut’s first look as Indira Gandhi released yesterday, the Rani actress nailed the part to perfection. Kangana’s prosthetics, wardrobe and body language are all reminiscent of the late Prime Minister.
